Integrating the spiritual with the physical

•October 2, 2008 • Leave a Comment

My physical practice is currently the most important thing I do.

Thats OK, focusing on it has given me a lot of skills that are applicable to spiritual practices… such as “the three P’s” (patience, persistence, practice) and the understanding that true results come incrementally with consistent hard work.

Anyways I found today that I could use this fire for my physical training as a tool to carry-over into spiritual practices.

I went up on the roof of the school where I work, where I often go to relax and sometimes meditate.

I started off with some joint mobility then got into a nice horse stance… really felt my body, felt the coiling around my legs, rooted into the Earth and then did some “prana pullups”.
I did these until I got distracted and the movements became mechanical (about 3-5 times) and then stopped and refocused on my body.

I did two ’sets’ of this, shaking out and doing some more joint mobility in between. The second ’set’ I also added a little of the pushing version from the “Warriors Wanted” DVD.

Essentially I am tricking myself because of using the horse stance and focusing on feeling and relaxing my body I am actually working on my physical practice….. in the past trying to get myself to do energy movements for the sake of doing them just didn’t work.

Was also cool cos I pretty much felt like I was doing Qi Gong.

I really like the roof as it takes the whole school thing and puts the noise of students, etc into a background buzz. It is quiet and I can see the big mountain and forests in the distance.
Also I am pretty much undisturbed up there.

After my session I sat down and did a meditation (my second that morning!). I found that, as I remember Eric mentioning, it was very hard to concentrate as it was an awake and busy time for people mentally. Although I did feel pretty good after.

I think a better idea may be to just sit in non-thought using the “babbler beater” for 10 minutes or so. That is more realistic time-wise also.

I think I’m gonna take a couple of the mats from downstairs up there and make a little personal practice space up on the roof. Hardly anyone ever goes up there and if I stash the mats well it should be fine.

I can do my joint mobility, yoga and spiritual stuff in peace during my free periods throughout the day and at the same time catch some nice sun (although in the afternoon may be too hot!).

Aura like rings

I have been seeing aura like rings around aeroplanes. If I’m not in an aware state I don’t see it, however if I focus on it I can see the ring.
It’s become an alarm clock of sorts as when I hear an aeroplane and look up at it  I generally think about it.
The ring is transparent and can differ from being round to ovalish.
Almost like the plane has been drawn on sheet of clear paper, the paper that cartoons are drawn on and it’s moving along the background ie. the sky.

I was trying to look at auras all day today but I didn’t meditate last night or this morning and my psychic “energy reserves” seemed to be a little low.

Anyways was driving past a football field and looked at a bunch of guys standing around quite close together…. I sort of noticed a group aura.

I wonder if the aeroplane aura has anything to do with the concentrated amount of people inside?

Try it out on buses, groups of people, etc… and I’ll do the same plus I’ll look at the planes.

Auras

I’ve been doing the majority of my aura practice just before going to bed.
Standing in front of a mirror with a plain background behind me I scan for my aura for around 5 minutes. Then I switch the light off and do the same thing (with a little bit of light sneaking through the door). After this I will open the door slightly so more light can get in and let it swing closed again, it’s at this moment that I get a quick glimpse of myself as light, like a purplish energy surrounded by the black of the room. It only lasts about a second if that.
I have also noticed this when watching movies sometimes, there will be someone on screen and then it will change to a different scene/background. The split second the change happens I see energy in the shape of the person.

Moving past the first lane

•October 2, 2008 • Leave a Comment
On listening to the foundation this morning I began
wondering what was the criteria for this "first lane" and
what was needed to move past it?

As the talk progressed it was basically outlined.

The first lane: relaxation

is defined by
- emotional stability
- an ability to hold some level of sustained non-thought

The first is pretty good for myself, the second needs more work.

I have found working with looking at Auras is a good way to
hold non-thought. I cannot think at the same time as focus
on looking around at Auras.

So that is the work to be done now...

Continue looking at Auras.
Try to work with non-thought whenever not looking at Auras
and focus hard on it during meditation.

Peace and love.
